Discovery Lives in Florida

Infographic showing the impact of the Wertheim UF Scripps Institute in Florida. In 2024, the institute raised $54 million in government grants and $3.7 million in private grants across roughly 40 labs. The institute holds over 100 patents worldwide, with more than 200 under review, supporting treatments for diseases including glioblastoma and Parkinson’s. Researchers use robotic screening to test 640,000 compounds, contributing to over 200 potential drug discoveries. More than 80 students train annually in a top-ranked graduate program, and STEM outreach includes over 100 undergraduate students nationwide and more than 300 local K–12 students each year.

Since joining UF Health in 2022, the work of our scientists and their laboratories not only continues, it’s expanding.

This is why your support of this campus means more now than ever.

What has changed

Our Name

We are proud to be The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation & Technology. Our Future

Our success as a biomedical research institution, combined with the clinical expertise of UF Health, is the beginning of a new era for translational discovery. We have access to a host of new resources that will help our scientists translate discoveries into cures at an accelerated pace ― improving outcomes for patients in the state of Florida and around the world. We are adding more faculty, along with data science and artificial intelligence technology, to help our scientists fight disease threats, address medical challenges and offer new educational opportunities for our students.
