Year in and year out, the greens of BallenIsles Country Club have served as venue for an important men’s health cause, supporting scientific research on prostate cancer.

Thanks in part to the leadership of longtime BallenIsles resident Jerome “Jerry” Blumberg, more than $1.2 million was raised for the cause over 11 years by the BallenIsles Men’s Golf Association. Blumberg died May 25, 2024, following a lifetime of caring for family and giving back to others.
“Jerry was a remarkable individual whose dedication and passion significantly impacted the fight against prostate cancer,” said Tracy Kerwin, CFRE, executive director of Advancement for The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation & Technology. “As the Golf Tournament Chair for the BallenIsles Men’s Golf Association Prostate Cancer Tournament, Jerry’s leadership, shining personality, and witty sense of humor brought life and energy to this vital cause.”
Kerwin said Blumberg had chaired the event for five years, including this year.
“Jerry’s dedication and the profound difference he made will always be remembered,” Kerwin said. “We are deeply saddened by his passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.”
In honor of Blumberg’s memory and his extraordinary contributions, the family has requested that gifts be made to the BallenIsles Prostate Cancer Research Fund.
“Jerry Blumberg’s legacy will continue to inspire and drive us forward in our mission,” Kerwin said. “It was an honor to partner with him, and his spirit will remain a guiding light in our efforts.”
